About the Tembesi Trek
Hiking and camping in the Tembesi Crater Rim starts from Timbanuh village in East Lombok. Crater Rim Tembesi is situated south-east of the Mount Rinjani summit, nestled beautifully between Crater Rim Tetebatu and Crater Rim Timbanuh.
As you trek to the Tembesi crater rim, you'll sleep in a cozy tent at the campsite on the east side of Segara Anak Lake, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the deep blue lake and the active Mount Baru Jari (the New Volcano).
The best part? You don't need to wake up at 3:00 AM for the summit push. Simply open your tent at sunrise to marvel at the gorgeous views of Mount Rinjani summit, Segara Anak Lake, and the golden morning light painting the sky.
🏆 Recommended: This trip is highly suitable for beginner hikers with a good level of fitness for a comfortable 2-day, 1-night mountain experience.

Trekking Itinerary
2 Days 1 Night Journey Breakdown
Arrival & Preparation
We will pick you up from Kuta Lombok, Lombok Airport, Mataram, Senggigi, Bangsal, or other locations within Lombok Island. Afterwards, we will transfer you to your hotel in Tetebatu to check in and meet your mountain guide.
Tetebatu – Timbanuh – Tembesi Crater Rim (6-7 Hours Walk)
- 07:30 AM: Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to the National Park Office in Timbanuh. Before entering the trail, you will participate in our green initiative by planting a tree.
- The Jungle Trail: Trek through a lush, natural forest rich with diverse wood species, emerald moss, and wild forest vegetables.
- 12:00 PM: Arrive at Post 2 for a freshly cooked lunch and rest.
- Post 3 (Cemara Nunggal): Hike for another 2 hours to reach Post 3, where you'll relax with hot tea, snacks, and fresh fruits while enjoying the opening savanna views.
- Camp Arrival (2,680m): Walk 60 minutes more through the golden savanna up to Tembesi Crater Rim. Our team will set up camp while you enjoy a majestic sunset overlooking Segara Anak Lake, the active volcano, and the distant Sumbawa Island. Followed by a delicious dinner under the stars.
Crater Rim – Timbanuh – Tetebatu Village – Departure
- 06:00 AM: Wake up peacefully in your tent to a warm continental breakfast (bread, hot coffee, tea, or milk) served by our team with stunning morning views of the lake and Rinjani summit.
- 08:30 AM: Begin descending to Post 2 (1.5 hours) for brief breaks, and continue down to Post 1 for a satisfying trail lunch.
- 02:00 PM: Reach Timbanuh village where our car is waiting to drop you back at the hotel in Tetebatu.
- Departure: Take a refreshing shower, change clothes at our base camp office, and load your bags. We will then transfer you to your next destination on Lombok Island.

- Hotel Stay: 1-Night accommodation before trek in Tetebatu (hotel adjusted based on Standard, Private, or Deluxe class selected).
- Camping Gear: Premium tents, thick warm sleeping bags, comfortable mattress (5cm), pillows, cooking gear, and toilet tent.
- Meals & Drinks: 3 freshly prepared hot meals daily on the mountain + snacks, fresh tropical fruits, coffee, tea, soft drinks, and unlimited mineral water.
